The Director of Talent Assessment is a vital member of the Talent & Organizational Development team, defining, implementing, and scaling talent assessment across the company. This role will have the primary responsibility of driving the development and execution of the performance management approach. The Director of Talent Assessment will be expected to quickly gain a nuanced understanding of the business and various employee populations and ensure that Collectors’ performance management approach, process, and system are able to meet the needs of this quickly evolving organization. The ideal candidate loves to build, thrives in ambiguity, is flexible and adaptable to change, moves quickly, and can demonstrate strong communication skills to deliver messages across all levels of the organization. This is an opportunity to join an HR organization in the beginning stages of expansion, while getting to manage and drive highly visible people processes and practices. 

This role reports to the VP of Talent and Organizational Development and can be located at our Headquarters in Santa Ana, California, Jersey City, New Jersey, or remote.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement a centralized performance management approach, including the components of philosophy, process, and system
  • Develop and execute on a practical and effective change management plan to bring the organization along and encourage strong adoption of the new performance management approach
  • Develop and deliver training to HRBPs, managers, and employees to enable them to confidently use performance management
  • Partner with the HRIS and compensation teams to ensure that performance assessment data supports compensation planning
  • Develop a simple, scalable approach to assessing for potential and determine how best to weave this into business practices
  • Develop a clear, consistent set of standard for promotion and launch this approach and process across the organization 
  • Be a trusted expert and partner to HRBPs and business leaders, helping them evolve their thinking on talent assessment 
  • Use data to assess the state of talent at Collectors 

Who You Are

  • 12+ years of HR experience focused on talent assessment/talent management
  • Demonstrated experience managing all elements of a performance management process, including change management (training and communications) and partnering with HRIS to align business processes with system capabilities.  Experience standing up a new performance management process is a plus. Workday experience is also a plus. 
  • Demonstrated experience with assessing potential in the context of talent reviews/org reviews; has a point of view on how to do this in a simple, scalable way that works in a rapidly evolving business.
  • Demonstrated success in building employee, manager, and HRBP facing tools and materials in support of talent assessment processes and practices. Experience upskilling HRBPs on talent assessment philosophy and practice; credibility as an expert in this space. 
  • Strong understanding of job leveling and competency development. Experience with success profiles is a plus.
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with an ability to drive projects through partnerships with HR and business leaders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask or re-prioritize as needed in a fast paced environment
